Hv has posted on this, so you may want to do a search. I think kelp is one of the plant sources. He talks about Black-Walnut hulls here.

I use an herbal plant Iodine form a source that I trust. I'm not sure whether Hv makes an herbal combination containing plant Iodine but if he does, I may well try it.
