ja, inflammation is a symptom, right on. The body's natural reaction to a trauma, internally or externally induced. Why would anyone want to treat the symptom with "anti-inflammatory" substances ?

My take is to leave the damned thing swelled up, its what the body wants to do. Why interfere with body's natural process ?

Inflammation is a secondary matter, in my view, as you'd suggested. Treating inflammation per se, is like taking an aspirin for a fever. Thyroid raises body temperature to prevent virus replication, then some dodo comes along and takes an aspirin to undo what the body does naturally in response to an attack !! Foolish humans.
