I see the iodine supporters are now trying to argue over whether or not the iodine in Lugol's is synthetic or not.  True the elemental iodine itself is natural, but refined.  But Lugol's also contains potassium iodide, referred to as "iodine" as well that is synthetic.

And since they want to get so nitpicky it can also be argued that the elemental iodine has been altered by turning in to a solution by dissolving it is alcohol.  Thus, this can be considered a synthetic since it has been altered by man.  After all, where can you find this iodine solution in nature created by nature so it can be extracted?
