Re: The Dark Side of The Alternative Health Movement: Promoting Ingested Iodine
A major flaw in the pro-iodine crowd's logic that I notice is that they state that iodine has cured a number of Cureone posters of cancer etc. They contend that this has convinced them that iodine is good.
Now if I really think about this, I conclude that I'm being told that Cureone is promoting the ingestion of a chemical of known toxicity.
You bring up an excellent point. How many people have claimed to have been cured from chemotherapy? Does this make it safe or effective? Of course not. And look at the short term and long term consequences of this type of therapy. Including the cancer coming back in time.
But does it really make sense to believe the testimonials of unknown posters that we've never met, have no idea of whether they're telling us the truth, and also have no idea of their true state of health????? Plus, we have no idea of the true long-term effects.
Exactly. When we have testimonials where we cannot even confirm if the person exits in the first place what good is that. Sales sites make up fake testimonials all the time. You can even go online and find services that specialize in making up false testimonials for your business as I have posted on in the past.
And many of the testimonials are highly questionable anyway. For example, when I posted study that pointed out oleander was worthless for cancer an oleander supporter came up with the excuse that the study was not conducted long enough. He went on to say that it takes at least 2 months to even start seeing results and something like 8 months or something like that to see anything really significant. Then he turns right around and posts unverifiable "testimonials" claiming cancer being cured by oleander in just over a week. Clearly someone or both are fabricating "evidence" to make the oleander appear effective when all the human studies for oleander on cancer have shown it to be a failure.
How many people though are going to read those testimonials and risk their lives over something proven to be ineffective, even by the manufacturer's own study?
They'll say things like "we'd be dead by now if iodine was toxic". Yet humans seem to be able to tolerate known toxins (such as mercury in teeth) in their body - to a point - without dying.
Great point. People need to realize that there are different levels of toxicity. Flax seed is highly goitrogenic, which means it can be classified as a "toxin" . Flax seed also contains a number of other compounds the soy bashers claim are toxic such as phytates and protease inhibitors. Yet I don't know of anyone who has died from this toxin yet.
Consider water. It is essential to life but drinking to much of it can kill you meaning water can also be toxic. So using their same reasoning we should all be dead since water is a toxin. There is an old saying about dosage making the poison.
