Re: Lugols's Solution - Iodine-Induced Hyperthyroidism? Or Herxhimer?

Free T4 and T3 should be tested for hyperthyroid just in case if you've lost weight.

TSH is a signal hormone that increases as a request from the thyroid to make more hormones under ideal circumstances, then decreases to reduce the signal and lower hormone production. T4 is a protein bound hormone that increases in hyperthyroidism, but Free T4 and T3 are better markers if you can get re-tested.

Check out some info here: http://www.thyroid.org/patients/brochures/FunctionTests_brochure.pdf

It's not complete though, only general.

Herxheimer sounds logical. Iodine in high dose gives me some foggy thinking and low energy. Iodide does the opposite, increasing energy usually.

Can you post your labs?

PS. Check out some deeper Thyroid information as well: http://www.drlwilson.com/articles/thyroid.htm
