This is not fun at all, I remember my skin was so dry I felt it would actually break.
If you monitor your body temperature, you may find out the same as I have done; when I feel warm and have a normal body temperature like 37 or slightly above, my skin is fine. I feel energetic.

Whenever I go below 37 (not very often anymore, but it happens) my skin feels dry, I dont feel very well.
This is one of the many symptoms of being hypo T.

Starting Iodine can be scary as it highlights this situation, just make sure you take all companions like salt, vit c (ascorbic acid in addition to rose hips) , magnesium etc etc.
