Water fasting; how to know if your electrolytes are out of wack?
Hi! I'm currently 3 hours away from my 8th day of water fasting. I'm pretty much taking this day by day but I hope to get to day 60 for cleansing, spiritual, and weight purposes. I think I have a fast metabolism despite being heavy, because I already lost 28 (maybe more) pounds. I've been researching and practicing fasting for 2 years now and I know pretty much everything I need to know to be comfortable with extended fasting, except for one thing. I'm worried about electrolytes because I know that's the thing forces a lot of people to stop fasting, or worse, kills them or sends them to the hospital. The thing is, I don't really know how to tell if mine are at an acceptable level. I also have an electronic blood pressure reader and my blood pressure is always perfect. I drink distilled water according to thirst. I basically rest the whole time during my fasts. I read somewhere that if you rest during your fasts you won't even be able to tell if your electrolytes are out of wack, is this true? Since the 6th day, when walk up and down stairs I feel a little tense from my abdomen up to my chest and it makes me out of breath, but it's definitely nothing serious and it goes away as soon as I sit or lay down. But, I understand that electrolytes hardly ever get messed up until the 30th+ day of fasting, which I intend to exceed. I'm a 17 year old female by the way, one month away from being 18. My mom supports me doing this. She fasted for 60(ish) days when she was young and lost 105
pounds or something like that, and kept it all of for so many years.
To the point: How do you know if your electrolytes or out of wack?
What should you do if you think they are?
Thanks!
