Re: Major Success: Day 4!
glaxony,
You said "I have battled pinworms since I was a child. Wish my parents had fasted me, if it will get rid of them. I can get the itch to go away for long periods of time, but sooner or later, they always come back." Having refamiliarised myself with pinworms, this sounds very much like re-infestation after getting clear of the little buggers. They are apparently very easy to pick up especially where small children are concerned.
I don't have much experience with
parasites in general but I'm quite familiar with Shelton's opinion which is that they cannot survive in a healthy body. If this is indeed the case, your pinworm problem is actually a symptom of your less than ideal state of health rather than a cause.
The macrobiotic diet may be somewhat better than the standard American diet (SAD) but it is not really an ideal nutrition plan. However, any diet will fall short if the body is incapable of utilising the foods properly. This is one problem where the
Water Fast is best and sometimes the only solution. A fast of sufficient length enables the digestive system to reset itself and restore the ability to fully assimilate the nutrition from the foods that we eat. Many Hygienists recommend a minimum of 21 days to ensure that the body has enough time to resolve any issues although it can take less time and possibly more.
Eating cooked foods adds to the amount of concentrated foods consumed and as concentrated foods require more energy to digest, more heat is generated in the process. I notice that I'm much warmer at night after eating a heavy meal of cooked foods, especially starchy foods, than after a heavy meal of raw foods including nuts. It's also possible that cooking makes nutrients more available to an impaired digestive system so although a raw diet is better all round, it's waisted if the body cannot extract the nutrients from it. Does that make sense?
Sorry about triggering tears but I'm glad that you opened up about it. It's been a long time since I had to worry about getting the rent paid but I can still remember the hopeless feelings surrounding those times in my life. Always be on the lookout for options as being stuck on a hamster wheel will burn up your energy without any chance of making progress. I had to change my life to get moving again but it was easy at the time because I had no one else to worry about. You may not have any other options but then again, perhaps you do but haven't seriously considered them for one reason or another.
You say- "the work I am doing causes me to teeter on the brink of wondering whether or not life is worth living." Keep in mind that there's the work that gets the bills paid and then there can be work that might not attract any income but gives us a feeling of doing something worthwhile. Life is always worth living but sometimes it can be bloody hard work. Step back and see if you're working harder instead of smarter or just pushing against the wrong door! You might be surprised what you find out.
I'm working through some research on fasting at this moment which is shedding some interesting light on the fasting process. I'll post that here soon but an early finding is that, as many fasters believe, the healing work continues even after the fast is stopped. A fast of even seven days has been proven to initiate improvements that continue for months after the fast has ended even without strict dieting or really knowing much about health. So yes, you could be right that initially you were too sick to fast comfortably but now you're having a better time of it because of general improvements in your constitution over time.
I'll comment a bit more later but for now must get to bed!
Good night,
NH...
