Re: Major Success: Day 4!
Hi glaxony,
Well done on reaching Day 5 in what I hope will be a long and successful life-changing event for you. I've read your post in the dry fasting forum as well and I am greatful for your openness on your experiences with restricted water intake and other aspects of your health.
It seems that you've had more health problems than my wife which is saying something as she has quite a history of complaints of one sort or another and is today severely debilitated with MS and various complications. The obvious difference between the two of you is that my wife will only consider changes to improve her health if they come in medical prescription form. As far as she's concerned, she is a "victim" of her diseases and until the doctors come up with a miracle drug to cure her, there's nothing that she can do to help herself return to health. You, on the other hand, are obviously willing to try various "alternative" remedies in the quest for health and I take my hat off to you.
Now that you're successfully water/dry fasting, I think that you're well on the way to discovering the beautiful truth about the human body and nature's laws of health as well documented in the
Science of Natural Hygiene. As you've tried just about everything else with varying results, wouldn't you love it to find out that you've finally arrived in the place you never knew you were looking for?
You've arrived from a world where
Colloidal Silver , liver flushes, herbal
Antibiotics , enemas and other such treatments seem a far cry from the medical profession with their pharmaceuticals, surgery, chemotherapies and radiation exposures but are really just the old toys that the medics used until they replaced them with their modern equivalents.
If you start studying the
Science of water fasting, you'll start to notice that instead of it being just another "treatment," it's actually the ultimate expression of Natural Hygiene's most basic message, "leaving the body intelligently alone." Hygienists understand that in all circumstances a) the body knows exactly what to do and always does the right thing, b) the only thing that can heal the body is the body itself, c) we can only barely comprehend the complicated inner-workings of the human organism, the millions of decisions and adjustments that are made every second and we should therefore trust the body to manage itself free from interference.
In normal day to day existence, Hygienists provide the body with an environment that promotes health to include pure air, pure water, a wholesome, species-correct diet, exercise, rest and sleep, relaxation and gainful employment (paid or otherwise.) At other times, the body requires a deep mental and physiological rest and this is obtained through fasting but it's not just abstaining from eating. It's ceasing all non-essential activity and allowing the body to focus on purifying and repairing the organism according to its priorities. By fasting in an environment that supplies the pure air, water, rest, sleep, relaxation and freedom from stress, we then allow the body to manage it's nutrient needs from inner reserves while they last. It's counter-productive to continue working and exercising while fasting as these activities use up vital reserves and at least partially defeat the purpose of fasting. If you cannot afford to completely cease these activities, then a compromise is the best that can be achieved.
If you can fast til completion this time, that will be excellent as you will gain the maximum benefit from the reserves that are available to you. But even if you have to stop early, this fast is the beginning of your newfound healthy life. By learning to provide yourself the factors of health and learning to avoid interfering with your body's inherent intelligence, you will reap great rewards over time. By removing the causes of your poor health and alowing your body to work towards ultimate health, your long-term chronic ailments will eventually disappear leaving you healthy and vibrant.
The learning has only just begun and there's a lot that you "know" that will have to be unlearned. Will you be able to recognise the difference between healthy foods that your body requires as the raw materials of nutrition as opposed to "medicines" in the form of herbs/inorganic minerals (supplements)/stimulating treatments that actually interfere with your body's inherent intelligence?
Will you be able to look deeply into your lifestyle to identify factors which may be causing your poor health and make the changes that remove those causes? Perhaps you've already removed the causes but just need the thorough rest to undo the existing damage before you can start a new life full of health and vigour.
I realise that you don't know me from Adam and I certainly don't expect you to believe a word of what I've just written. However, I'm hoping that I've piqued your interest and that you will start inquiring into Natural Hygiene from which you can make up your mind and choose your own path from a position of enlightenment.
For in-depth reading on Natural Hygiene, nothing beats HM Shelton's Orthotrophy

but there's plenty of other references not least of which is Douglas Graham's 80-10-10 Diet book. (http://foodnsport.com/shop/books/the-80-10-10-diet.php)
Hint: Our nearest species-neighbours are chimpanzees and bonobos (http://pin.primate.wisc.edu/factsheets/entry/bonobo,
http://www.nagonline.net/HUSBANDRY/Diets%20pdf/Bonobo%20Nutrition.pdf)
In the wild, these animals thrive (when left alone by humans) without the need for supplements, enemas, medicines and artificial preparations. (http://pin.primate.wisc.edu/factsheets/entry/bonobo: "Because of the relative richness of their habitat and availability of food sources, there is little constraint on bonobo group size. The result is a decrease in intraspecific feeding competition and heightened sociality, especially between females (Blount 1990)."
Nature did not make a mistake when designing homo sapiens. The reason that we have such a hard time keeping healthy is that we've strayed away from our natural diet and lifestyle. Cows are designed to eat grass, aardvarks are designed to eat ants, vultures are designed to eat dead animals, and as with the chimp and the bonobos, humans are designed to eat fruits and vegetables. When cows eat meat, we get mad cow disease, when humans eat animal products and/or grains we get doctors!
Sorry to stray from the main topic so far but that's what happens when I have too much time on my hands and too much room for comments!
I'm looking forward to hearing of your continued success and discussing further with you which direction you take on your journey to health.
