I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I have gone through the exact same thing.

DO NOT go to an ER. They are not trained in infectious disease involving the parasitic catagory, and will only make you feel like a fool. I went to an ER myself, with a "specimen" in hand, only to be told that "we are not equipped/trained to deal with that. They may also pull in several people to witness the Doctor questioning you to see whether they "think you are of sound mind" or not. Being that they are not familiar or educcated as to the reality of what you are dealing with, they may "brand" you or diagnose you as having "delusional parasitosis." If this happens, it will go on record that you are "crazy" and you will never be taken seriously by medical personnel again. This is a very dangerous position to be in.

I don't know where you live, but you need to be exceedingly careful about the Doctors you trust to treat you for this. I would Google "Infectious Disease Medical Schools" to see if there is one near you. A place like UCLA would be appropriate as they are familiar with parasistes.

A D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) would also be more likely to help you. My Doctor, Dr. Singer in Denver, is willing to listen to me and help me in diagnosing this stuff.

His recommendations to me:
Buy a digital microscope- which will enable you to put your "specimens" under magnification, photograph them, and upload them to your computer. You can email the pictures to your Doctor, and if he can't figure out what they are, he can email them tothe CDC. The Center of disease control offers FREE ASSISTANCE to any Doctor in need of help with a diagnosis.

DOCUMENT!!!- make notes of symptoms, time of day, etc. If you feel you are running a fever, take your temperature. Note the time of day. Sometimes I run a "sub-grade" (below normal temp) which is common with parasites.

DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH. Google any symptom you may have.Look into results that come up. Dig deeper into things that relate or come close to what you are experiencing. Make notes, SAVE LINKS TO PAGES AND Websites that you identify with so you can share them with your Doctor.

The problem in the U.S. is that there is not any adequate laboratory diagnosis available except for stool testing. The chemical used for "preserving" stool that the lab gives you is called formalin. It is supposed to prevent decomposition of parasite eggs, unless more than 24 hours has passed since the sample was collected.

Do not put any worm in formalin. It will disinterate immediately. It acts like "acid" to the worm, rendering it unrecognizable to any lab personnel.

Instead, get empty lab sample bottles from your doctor or order empty specimen bottles online. Fill them with rubbing alcohol. Put date, time on bottle.

Some helpful places I have found online are military infectious disease protocol, which state that certain parasites such as schistisomes and strongyloides must be tested for right around 2am or the tests come back as "negative".

China has some great textbook informationabout parasites. I learned a lot from reading their material online.

The key is to go looking for answers from places that would know what the hell they are dealing with or talking about. I can tell you Colorado isn't one of them. Thank goodness for Dr. Singer. He is intelligent and understanding and is willing to look into what you believe is happening to you. I wouldgive him a call and ask for a referral. Perhaps he knows of a colleague in your area that could help...
