Re: when things fall apart
"awareness, acceptance, action, non-attachment"
Nicely summed up! However passion and desire are so critical for perseverance and successful outcomes. Is passion and desire possible without attachment? Not easily - that's for sure.
I guess there's no going through life without paying the pound(s) of flesh. You can either contribute them on your own terms (if you plan wisely) or have life beat them out of you. And the longer you resist the more beaten down you get.
Don't know where that came from but I'm sticking with it.
Anyway, this book has also been a lifesaver for me. Several years ago I was feeling completely hopeless and despondent. Not knowing what else to do I just spent the day in Barnes and Noble reading books and looking for answers. Fortunately I came across "When Things Fall Apart". As seemingly depressing as the subject matter is, it completely cleared my mind of hopelessness and
Depression (by embracing hopelessness I guess).
It's a brilliant, brilliant book that everyone should have on hand for those inevitable times when everything does fall apart - and also for perspective during the good times.
