Re: Woman Whipped for Driving
The Saudi women have loads of money and take vacations, by themselves or with their husbands other wives, to Europe which is just a short distance away. While there they live high, eating, drinking, wearing the most fashionable clothing and wearing high heals. I know this because a guy I worked with many years ago spent five years in Saudi Arabia as a computer programmer and he too used to take European breaks. On the way back from Europe in the airplane he would watch the women change back into their Saudi acceptable clothes and change out of their high heels while buying drinks from the bar.
If you think that is bad, whey do females in the United States of America earn 30% less on average, for the exact same work the men perform? Even when we have laws that forbid that?
It is not just the Saudi's who have a lot to learn, it is Americans as well.
Proof or it didn't happen!
Sure, I can spout stuff like women make so-and-so less than men doing the same work, but an example or two would be helpful. Also, women are less likely to negotiate a higher pay when interviewing for the same job, employers are savvy to paying the least amount when possible. Employers also don't want employees to discuss how much each makes to reduce pay difference disputes, especially if higher paid employees negotiated better pay during hire.
It's also difficult to believe that Saudi women have loads of money, at least not all of them. The ones in America still wear garbs and head covers, probably due to culture, tradition, etc... I thought that the garbs were a remnant of desert travel for protection from the sun originally.
I'm not clear as to what Saudis or Americans have to learn? Can you extrapolate?!
