In my family both a brother and I inherited a gene which predisposed us to developing Type 1 Diabetes and/or Celiac Disease. He developed the diabetes in his 30's and I have Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is an autoimmune gluten sensitivity so I do not eat gluten foods, wheat, barley or rye. Recent studies have shown that some T1 Diabetics also benefit from the avoidance of gluten.
When H. Clark reported on her study of diabetics she did not differentiate between the types. Altho all the diabetics who followed the program improved there was a small group that weren't 'cured'. It is possible that these were Type 1 because when the disease is triggered by some environmental influence the body can't stop the autoimmune response. But even these people improved and, I think, most of them were no longer insulin dependant.
