Re: My experience with iodine
"I've been hyper for the last three days now. Bouncing off the walls. I find it very hard to decide how much iodine/iodide is good for me. What are your thoughts about that?"
-hi violien and welcome to the forum!
I had much of the same symptoms as your hypo T, I also have had some hyper "adventures" during the way; what I found out was that
Iodine did not cause this. A deficiency of magnesium, to much vit B may could cause this in me. I also found out that loads of real salt helped me through those phases. I only take vit B in the morning and low dosages as high "complex" B can make me jittery and give me palpitations.
I take magnesium 3 times a day, that helps too.
Iodine ratium to selenium is also an important factor.
"I think I'll "only" take 50 mg today and see if that will let me sleep tonight!"
-yes it is worth a try, but I sleep very well on a
Lugols "coctail" before bedtime, taken with salt, water, vit C magnesium and borax. This is the only supplements I take in the evening, before bedtime.
Pulsing the dosage, testing on yourself; its been a long journey to find out what I need, can tolerate and when etc.
"Still, better hyper than hypo in my case, because it means my thyroid is working again."
-I so agree with you, but it is not comfortable having insomnia, try my evening coctail, see if it helps
"I'm I taking the right supps? Did I forget anything?"
-your list looks good, but beware the bicarb; have been through a phase were I took it; and it caused the most terrible side effects like hyperness, palpitations, very dry skin. Drop the vit B in the evening. Take more salt, it is calming and if you take to much you will only get thirsty; the body will adjust this.
