Re: what happenned to me?

Hi #109563,

Sorry that your first Water Fast (WF) was so traumatic and I feel that you were right to break it when you did. Before you try again, which you surely must, you should prepare for the fast through several weeks of healthy eating.

To me, healthy eating is mostly fresh, raw fruit during the day and an evening meal of salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sweet pepper, celery) plus a small amount of raw, organic nuts OR seeds OR an avocado. There are other vegetables that could be added but for fast preparation, keeping things simple is important. For fruit meals, eat as much as you desire but don't mix sweet fruit (bananas, figs, dates) with acid fruit. Eat melons on an empty stomach as they digest extremely quickly and if held up in the stomach by slower processing fruits, will ferment.

I'd avoid drinking anything besides distilled water and then only at least 1/2 an hour before a meal, an hour after fruit or several hours after a salad meal as it will interfere with digestion if food is still in the stomach. Personally I don't do juices as the mastication process is the beginning of digestion, an important step that should not be bypassed.

Just doing the above should result in the initiation of detox at a slower rate than a WF. Several weeks or even months on a preparation diet may be sufficient to ease you into a WF without such severe symptoms.

Thanks to anymouse and himitsuhime for your helpful comments.

Regards,
NH...
