Re: Can one be cured of hypothyroidism?

My diet isn't great. I drink a lot of diet soda and eat junk all through the week. I don't eat junk all day and I do a few things right...I use a little coconut oil in the morning, I take fish oil supplements, and I try and watch my sugar/wheat intake. The times I get frustrated and "go off" eating well is what hurts me. I do fast food 1-3 times a week. :(

I'm going to copy and paste a post I wrote on the Water Fasting forum. It pretty much lists the medications I take and my current mindset.

Thank you so much for your interest and help. I've been going the medication route, but I don't feel better. In fact I feel worse than ever.

Oh, I should add that I married and had kids very young...I had all 4 of my kids by age 25.

Okay, this is my post from last night....

I can say I honestly wasn't ready before now. I toyed with the idea of water fasting, but mostly because I was interested in the weight loss benefits that could be achieved through it. I'm now considering it because I want to take control of my life. I'm tired of living the way I am and feeling the way I feel.

Okay folks, LOOOONG story short!

I'm a 37 yo woman who is 30-40 lbs. overweight and very unhealthy. I am hypothyroid and have mild pcos. I also suffer from anxiety and **frequently** get headaches.

I take the following medications...

For Hypothyrodism...
*Synthroid
*Cytomel
For PCOS
*Yaz bcp
*Spironolactone
For Anxiety and mild depression
*Celexa
*Wellbutrin
*Zanax very occasionally as needed for panic attacks

Yeah, it's crazy how many meds I take. I am too young for this. I hate it. I have little to no sexua| desire because of the meds. Ideally, I'd love to be off ALL of them, but IDK if it's possible. I am a Christian believer and DO believe God could heal me. IDK...

I'm ready to change my life. I do believe that food is medicine and need to start living like I believe. I've started by dropping diet soda and cutting refined carbohydrates (wheat, sugar). I'm also weaning off morning coffee to prepare for my first water fast.

What else should I be doing? I know eventually what I want my diet to look like (for life!)...totally whole foods, plenty of greens, protein, eggs, healthy fats, fermented foods, etc. What should I be doing now to prepare for the upcoming fast and the rest of my life?

Also, your thoughts on changing my diet/lifestyle so that I can be off all these meds? Is it possible? Have you heard of others doing this. With all my heart I want to be healthy and whole...physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

Any and all advice appreciated. You will NOT BE WASTING YOUR TIME! I am now ready for this.

A sincere thanks in advance! God bless you all! :)
