Re: What herb/food/supplement metabolizes sugar?

What is the best thing for metabolizing sugar? It's hard to completely avoid sugar during the holiday parties and dinners. Just preparing myself and wondering if there is anything that can help?

What's the quickest way to get sugar out of the body?

(other than just eating/drinking it? ha!)

The best choices are gymnema sylvestre, juniper berry, bitter melon or Devil's club (don't confuse with Devil's claw).  Gymnema sylvestre is a sugar blocker.  The gymnemic acid in the herb locks up sugar receptors blocking around 70-80% of the sugar ingested afterward for up to 2 hours.  It should be taken at least 20 minutes before eating to allow time for the gymnemic acid to lock up the receptors before ingesting the sugar.  The other herbs are all hypoglycemics that function like insulin lowering the blood sugar.
