Would like interpretation of iodine test results
I am confused on my test results received this evening from Hakala Research.
If "iodine body sufficiency is achieved when the 24 hour collection sample contains 90% or more of the
Iodine ingested," as it states in the Reference Range section, then wouldn't this mean that anything 90% or higher is normal?
Yet, right below the above statement, it says if you excrete 90% or more, and are not taking
Iodine supplementation, this may be caused by...symporter defect,
Iodine organification problem, interference by bromide.
So my 24 hr excretion % was 94%.
Does this mean my iodine is sufficient, or not? Because I find the above two statements to be conflicting. Can someone please explain the logic to me?
I did this because I wanted to see if I was sufficient in iodine. But the information, to me, seems contradictory.
