Inflammation is related to cancer so it would seem logical that animal proteins would promote cancer.

Possibly.  The link between inflammation and cancer is still not clear.  Just like how it is not clear if estrogens cause or promote cancer.  We know that most cancers are triggered by microbes, particularly viruses.  So are estrogens and inflammation also causes of cancer or do they simply promote the growth of already existing cancers such as those triggered by microbes?
