Re: It's A Spam Post & Belongs In Debate Forum
I am sorry to have to tell you that Dr. Cowan may be full of baloney. While I support the consumption of healthy saturated fats, and the reduction of oils, that kind of diet in and of itself will not prevent or cure gallstones.
My grandmother, who lived on the farm, far away from civilization, had no oils in her house. At least I never saw any. They ate the pure lard that the Weston Price people love so much as well as the fatty meats from their own naturally-raised animals and butter made from their own cows' unpasteurized milk. She and her family had a huge garden virtually all their lives and ate plenty of vegetables and fruit from their own trees.
The only time she ever had to go to a doctor (100 miles away) was to, yes, get her gallbladder removed for stones. Other than that, she never saw a doctor until very late in life.
Now, I realize that my story of my grandma doesn't completely prove anything this way or that. But Dr. Cowan's ideas are purely theoretical. He is taken with the Weston Price philosophy of eating and tries to make everything fit that.
Because MH promotes a deficient diet does not mean that various sorts of cleanses were originated by him. I don't know about Asians, but I do know that in Europe, for countless years, and even here in America, it was common practice to deworm.
Liver Flushes weren't invented yesterday, either; they have been a common folk practice for some time. If some people who eat a dreadfully deficient diet happen to do flushes, cleanses, deworming, etc. and don't get better, that proves nothing.
You have to look at the whole picture - as do we all.
