Re: Allergies as a contributing factor

Thanks for the comments. The Elidel actually seemed to make things worse. So, I stopped it and all other ointments and balms. I have not put anything at all on my lips for 10 days now and while the peeling is still an almost daily occurrence, the burning and swelling is much better. Talking is also much easier which was a problem when I was trying various products. I am committed to staying with not using anything at all. I used chapstick very frequently (5-6 times daily if not more) up until this all started 3 months ago. I think I simply damaged my lips by using too much "stuff" and they now need time to heal. The allergy shots are helping my seasonal allergies, which can't hurt my lips either - maybe will help. Have you also been not using anything? If so, for how long? I should also mention like you I eat as healthy as possible and have cut out all gluten (has helped with some other GI issues), all alchohol (never a bad idea), and almost all dairy and sugar. Lots of fruits and veggies, as well as meats without any sauces and such. I know this is going to take time, but I think cold turkey with a commitment to see it through will do the trick as it has for several others on the forum. What do you think?

Very best wishes to you!
