Re: Gotta Get Blood Pressure Down For DOT Physical.
The results are in! My husband finally got certified for his DOT physical! Yay! We are relieved.
That is great news. Congratulations.
The white coat syndrome is the worst and it's a pretty tricky thing to conquer. Today the office reading was 140/88 and it ended up being our new primary physician who signed off on it.
And guess what, once we got home it was 118/70! Both the lisinopril and the hydrochlorothiazide don't have as much as an effect as the herbs so from this point on we will be ditching them. The side effects are so definitely not worth it.
Also while I was in the waiting room I was desperate for something to read and picked up a copy of a WebMD magazine, the June issue. It had an article in there about yawning. It was very interesting (that reptiles yawn to show aggessiveness, to show off their sharp teeth, etc), but it said that while there are speculations as to what causes yawning there has been no conclusive evidence to back up either the lack of oxygen or the brain cooling theories.
I still lean more to the increasing oxygen theory as it does cause us to expand our lung volume, which will create a temporary jump in oxygen levels improving alertness. Same as how sometimes we just sigh when sitting around. It helps to expand the lungs.
I'm pretty sure there has to be some correlation with excessive yawning and the circulatory system somehow and the use of some prescriptions.
I would not be surprised at all. Especially considering the fact that the effects of the Lisinopril are really on the nervous system.
I know that lisinopril makes my husband yawn a lot and I suspect it's not a good thing. For the life of me I do not see how something that causes cold hands and feet, memory loss and impotance (and yawning!) can be good for your heart. That just doesn't make sense to me...But then again maybe I'm just full of herbs!
