Prior to that one thread, I have heard only good things about coconut oil; and numerous sources claim that coconut oil will not harm gut flora. Of course, numerous sources claim that raw garlic selectively kills off candida while leaving beneficial gut flora intact ... and we now know that this is not correct.

So we definitely need more testing done ... because at best this is inconclusive.

Even if some beneficial gut flora are destroyed by coconut oil, the positive benefits vastly outweigh the negative, especially if coconut oil is supplemented by probiotics.

Still, coconut oil is SOOOO CLOSE to being the perfect food, that it would be cool if it didn't kill friendly gut flora.
