Re: I'm just scared today, really scared

Just a few quick thoughts for consideration.

Regarding osteomyelitis, from Mayo Clinic:

Signs and symptoms of osteomyelitis include:

  • Fever or chills

  • Irritability or lethargy in young children

  • Pain in the area of the infection

  • Swelling, warmth and redness over the area of the infection

Sometimes osteomyelitis causes no signs and symptoms or has signs and symptoms that are difficult to distinguish from other problems.

When to see a doctor
See your doctor if you experience worsening bone pain along with fever. If you're at risk of infection because of a medical condition or recent surgery or injury, see your doctor right away if you notice signs and symptoms of an infection.

I want you to know that I believe (as long as you keep taking at least 6 cloves of garlic daily), while keeping an eye on the wound (for increased swelling and 'infection smell'), that the likelihood of developing a deeper infection is extremely minimal...particularly if there's no fever.  Of course, whenever a bone is broken along with surgery, there's a possibility of a pathogen entering into the bone...but this is very uncommon (and from what I know/understand), virtually impossible IF you're taking plenty of garlic every day.

Before I'd lose a leg, Osteomyelitis would have to develop [bone infection]. I don't know why you keep worrying about 'losing a leg' when you've seen the physicians since you recognized infection...and none of them seem worried that you're going to lose your leg!  If they thought you had osteomyelitis, they would (almost assuredly) admitted you to the hospital and started you on IV antibiotics.  I think (maybe?) you'd feel a LOT better if you'd pop in a couple of the Natural Healing Crusade DVD's and watch them while you're relaxing. Remember, Dr. Schulzes hand was burned to the bone (actually burned/charred the bone itself and had the bone/s exposed). I'm eating a lot of garlic and I plan to keep it up. My circulation is good, and I plan to make it better tomorrow by exercising. The Tx for Osteomyeltis is long term Antibiotics. I guess it's not hard to treat, but I don't want long term meds. Good!  So be sure to keep taking your garlic until you're "out of the weeds" and you shouldn't have any problem. If I ever got this, I'd probably refuse the antibiotics and stay home and eat lots of garlic You should be eating lots of garlic now to make sure you're not going to "get this".   I'm not on antibiotics long term, just for 2 weeks at the max. I'm not wanting to be an antibiotic person. If you don't want to be an 'antibiotic person' then just make sure you're doing everything you need to do to not need to take antibiotics.  And if you've got any extra time on your hands (and want to), do some 'googling' and post some information for everyone about garlic and bacterial infections.  That'll help you AND everybody on the forum, too :)

I haven't found the type of bacteria yet, if they have it at all. I never had red streaks. If I were you, I would definitely find out if the doctor KNOWS the type of bacteria that is/was present.  If he doesn't know what kind of bacteria it is/was, he doesn't know what kind of antibiotics to prescribe.  There's certainly no sense in taking a drug that's not going to be effective for your type of bacteria.

You're right, I'm taking things out of context, worrying that the worst case scenario with come true. I guess I'm a big baby. I need some EFT. Thanks for replying. And don't forget...worrying & stress makes us weaker, not stronger.  We need to be wise (and alert) but worrying & stressing doesn't help anything at all.

I may go on a juice fast for a while. I think it would do me some good and help me heal.  Juice fasting is WONDERFUL!  Be sure and let us know all your tasty juice combinations if you do (everyone's always wanting to know everyone elses favorites :)

Blessings (always) -

Uny
