Re: All people of Netherlands were condemned to death
I hear what you're saying. The Catholic church was the first Christian faith and therefore they originated the Bible that other Christian faiths are based on. If the Catholic church controlled what the Bible says, this then flowed into other Christian churches that followed.
So all I'm saying is that I think it's a good idea to use critical thought when reading and interpreting the Bible and keep in mind that parts of it were changed to suit the Church leaders of that olden time (stands to reason, they were the ones who murdered and tortured people who wouldn't obey).
As far as finding books that are true histories, this is very difficult to do. People (myself included) tend to seek out books that agree with their opinions. At the same time though, I'm open to new ideas if they make sense. I'm not locked into the box of what the Christian churches tell me is "truth". That's indoctrination and a lot of fear and guilt-based tactics are used.
Some of my best friends are Christians! There are a lot of good people who have never thought to question the teachings they've learned from the cradle.
It's similar to ideas about food and health. They can be hard to change.
