Re: Benzo usage = bad digestion

Thanks again, Hv. Got some spirulina on the way, and I'll see if I can tack some nettle leaf powder on that order.

By the way, what do you think about hawthorn for managing high BP and cardiovascular problems like "stenosis" and plaque build-up? I've used hawthorn tinctures in the past, and I thought they were really helpful, but what's your take? And are the berries, or the flowers/leaf more beneficial? I've seen things written supporting both sides.

Thanks for linking that topic about anxiety as well. I'll check it out.

There are better choices than hawthorne.  If you do use hawthorne then look for a combination of the flower, berry and leaf.  The flowers are the strongest part of the plant, but the berries and leaves work synergistically with the flowers.  For lowering blood pressure the best choice of treatment will depend on the cause of the high blood pressure.  If not sure there are mild cardiac glycoside sources such as lily of the valley or night blooming cereus (Cactus grandiflorus) that will slow the heart and reduce blood pressure.  The herb coleus forskohlii has the same effects as cardiac glycosides without actually containing any cardiac glycosides.  Taking the nettle leaf with forskohlii will prolong the effects of the forskohlii.

As for clearing out the arteries the most effective way to do this with plants would be with lecithin granules.  Lecithin is a fat emulsifier, so it makes the cholesterol water soluble for easy removal as well as lowering cholesterol.  Silica sources can help prevent plaque formation by strengthening arterial walls and reducing arterial inflammation.
