California costs a little more to live in than Florida but the weather is less harsh than most states. Thats why its so packed here. Having been in Florida many times for long periods of time, perhaps the humidity is bothering you. The mold would not really be a factor anymore if you took care of it over a year ago. Unless you have a very weak immune system.
Only time Ive ever seen someone deadly sick from mold was a woman at DAna point who was HIV positive. She didnt even make it to see the full abatement of her mold.
