I may have been unclear in my post and this follow up explanation may do nothing to change this :). Of course dry fasting is different from drinking water while fasting. But if we are drinking only according to thirst and we are not thirsty, then we are also dry fasting. To say this another way, until thirst arises, we are both "drinking only according to thirst" and "dry fasting" simultaneously.
