I understand what Dr. Flechas has you doing. Makes total sense in terms of helping you raise your total body level of iodine. I believe that having a good level of iodine in your body is one of the best ways to prevent cancer. I have taken as much as 150 mg Iodoral (12 tabs), and see no problem with you taking 100 mg (8 tabs). Will your goiter get smaller? Only if it's caused by lack of iodine. You've already been taking enough iodine to know that more iodine won't make the goiter get smaller. On the other hand, I had a goiter that grew and grew, and it did not go down until I was taking enough dessicated thyroid to make my TSH go lower. In my case, high TSH was trying to get my thyroid to produce more hormone, and since it couldn't, my thyroid tried to compensate by getting larger. After I'd been on thyroid hormone a few months, I realized the goiter was getting smaller, and then it disappeared.
At the beginning of your post you mentioned being hypothyroid but didn't say what you were doing to help that. Iolite's post offers many suggestions. She's been very helpful to me.
