Have you read Dr. Brownstein's book: "Iodine: Why you need it, Why you can't live without it". He explains that when one is extremely toxic, the iodine transporters need extra help -- hence the co-factors. You should be salt loading every day to flush out bromide. The website Breast Cancer Choices has some really good iodine info on salt loading and detox symptoms (it is not a comprehensive list so you may experience symptoms that aren't there, however, if you come here and search or post your symptom, it is a safe bet that someone else has had the very same symptom. You should read everything on the iodine links and bookmark it.
I understand what Dr. Flechas has you doing. Makes total sense in terms of helping you raise your total body level of iodine. I believe that having a good level of iodine in your body is one of the best ways to prevent cancer. I have taken as much as 150 mg Iodoral (12 tabs), and see no problem with you taking 100 mg (8 tabs). Will your goiter get smaller? Only if it's caused by lack of iodine. You've already been taking enough iodine to know that more iodine won't make the goiter get smaller. On the other hand, I had a goiter that grew and grew, and it did not go down until I was taking enough dessicated thyroid to make my TSH go lower. In my case, high TSH was trying to get my thyroid to produce more hormone, and since it couldn't, my thyroid tried to compensate by getting larger. After I'd been on thyroid hormone a few months, I realized the goiter was getting smaller, and then it disappeared.
At the beginning of your post you mentioned being hypothyroid but didn't say what you were doing to help that. Iolite's post offers many suggestions. She's been very helpful to me.
I believe he's talking about 13 drops of SSKI = 390 mg potassium iodide.
