Re: Anyone else have recurring Urinary infections?
It's totally the Mirena and you are not nuts! I had only had one UTI in my life before Mirena, then proceeded to have UTI's back to back for months after insertion! I never made the connection though, so it was a horrible cycle of UTI -->
Antibiotics --> Yeast Infection --> UTI. When I finally got the Mirena removed I no longer had UTI's.
However, around 6 months after mirena removal I decided to go on Progesterone cream to help with my continued hormone imbalance. It worked really well for a few months, then I started getting UTI's again. (I think I am progesterone sensitive -- Mirena's active hormone is a synthetic progesterone and did the same thing). It took a long time for the cream to get out of my system, and I am finally back to somewhat normal again. I think I will always be more prone to getting UTI's now that I have had the Mirena, but compared to when I had the Mirena in, it's like night and day.
I would implore you to get it removed. UTI's are miserable, and repeated courses of
Antibiotics are not good for your body.
Good luck! Molly
