Liver spots are changes in skin colour associated with older skin. The increased pigmentation may be brought on by aging, exposure to sun or other forms of ultraviolet light, or other unknown causes.



Thrombocytopenia which are reddish/purple spots are more commonly link to the liver and can also be an indication of iron deficiency. If the spots occur in places that don't see the sun then they are not what is call age/liver spots.
