Re: What are you using it for exactly?

Mmh, thanks for the pointer! I expect that the water supply here is quite lead-free, as they're a bit health-vigilant in my country. My one concern has been about our high calcium content in the water supply- but I've been told that the inorganic form in the water can't be absorbed by the body. In all likelyhood that's quite true, but I want to be quite cautious of hypercalcemia!

The magnesium is actually to both help increase insulin sensitivity, and as an essential helper for maintaining cell walls throughout the body. The symptoms and issues that deficiencies are linked to can be read here: http://www.krispin.com/magnes.html

I'd have to say the results from my supplemental regime is currently quite good. I've had a hard time reminding myself to keep up the protien intake though (low-fat, naturally). My actual insulin requirements have lowered from ~60 units of insulin to about ~44 units of insulin, and I have experienced a big boost in energy levels and much less carbohydrate cravings. I've been following the food guides pretty strongly since starting, and this is the tail end of two weeks on what is hopefully a well-balanced supplementation.

I'm trying to chase down the goal that has been reported successful in a few cases- weaning off of insulin via a low glycemic-index diet, exercise, balanced supplementation and patience.

There have been reports of folk achieving it via strict dieting and raw foods, but it doesn't seem like a heavily achievable goal, all things considered- I'd like this sort of recovery plan to be accessible by folk rich and poor alike, even if they do have to be working for their bread.

Ok, now I'm babbling on. Thanks for the reply!
