Re: The media is not there to help. It does not feel your pain.

About 5 years ago a reporter was snooping around in front of the house, looking along the curb for puddled water. Curious, plus the fact that she was really cute but that's besides the point, I went out to see what the news crew was doing.

They were looking at puddles of water as potential nesting areas for mosquitoes. The crisis de jour was West Nile Virus. I availed myself to them and the reporter immediately asked me what I thought of the puddled water. It helped that I was in smart arse mode, so I spit out a series of confusing statements. The reporter then asked me if the puddles made me angry, that my neighbor did not see to it to clean up the water to rid the chance of nests of West Nile critters. A couple more rhyming sentences and the reporter still didn't get I was funning with her. I guess I wasn't that funny. So the reporter kept grilling me. "Are you sure you are not angry with your neighbor."

I mean, the poor thing was doing her darndest to provoke me into a controversial interview. I said that I liked the puddles because they gave the best chance of genning up some West Nile mosquitoes because I was all for thinning the herd.

Dunno why I didn't make it to the PM news that eve. I do find it important to promote nuance with reporters from commercial TV. Occasionally they actually get my jokes.
