I do think that people are waking up to the media, and the manipulations. I admired the people of Tully, where they had the sense to ban the media, when they were cleaning up, after the cyclone, and asked people to respect the privacy of those affected by this disaster. This should happen more often I think.
My Dad's next door neighbours, lost their house completely, in the cyclone. The media wanted to interview these very distressed people. They literally had the clothes on their backs and nothing else. The mother of the family didn't want to be filmed dirty from the cleaning up she was doing, but the media told her that people wouldn't be interested, if she and her family looked clean and tidy.
Makes me wonder how much we see is real or is it just "reel" as you say T2
