Re: The media is not there to help. It does not feel your pain.
Two examples of media care:
Dreadful accident involving two road coaches. Young female reporter spent two minutes researching story and then twenty five minutes getting the setting and makeup right for her "real life" shoot. (I laugh at that description: "the "reel" life shoot".)
Multiple murders in bush setting: Large media contingent interviewing local publican. Publican makes it clear he has been resident in this area for six months. However he does have a regular supplier who lives near where the murders took place. That regular supplier is a long term resident and knows that particular area well. Publican suggests the media wait and talk to the regular.
"No. You'll do." was the reply.
A fav media quote:
""Journalists are the guardian of many taboos. They determine what is said and how; they frame the parameters of public debate. They help sustain the fact that debate in a democracy tends to be less about truth than about the appearance of truth; not about arguing, but rather about posturing. "" Andrew Sullivan editor of "The New Republic".
