...And the best thing my mother did for me was to sing as she went about her housework. She sang the love songs of the day, 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes', and light operetta songs, 'Jeanette And Her Wooden Shoes', and, of course, 'You Are My Sunshine'. I sang that at the top of my voice as I walked down the street when I was 3 or 5 years old.
My friend's mother played it on the gramaphone, and she cried because her husband would not come home from WW II. It would be years before I understood.
Personally, I can't live in a world without blackberries. And I crave watermelon. Funny, those little
Sugar babies ripen after the big ones. Is there a
Watermelon patch in the world where someone doesn't open one too soon?
Gotta go write something serious.
Love you.
