9yr old plugged up and too skinny
In Sept finally got to the bottom of intermittent nausea over summer: x-ray showed loads of old stool in all parts of lg intestine even though she produced daily BM! Must have built up in Spring after a round of
Antibiotics for pneumonia and then a month traveling in rural China where she often skipped drinking enough and held it in waiting for a less disgusting toilet to be found...
Gotta get it out to get better says Ped.
Trouble is getting her clean and keeping her weight up. Moving things along with miralax, enemas and now magnesium oxide tablets are giving her stomach squeezing cramps and she cannot eat. Missing many meals from this and now down to 47lbs.
At least we now have ondansetron for nausea (1 tab daily)and that is keeping food down when she is between cramps. Tried psillium which she refuses; tried fleet twice which burns; tried bisacodyl (xlax)which gives bad cramps. Belly rubs sometime eases the pain.
Am thinking about trying triphala. Thinking about hydrotherapy or oxygen cleansers...
Easing up on the cleansing reduces the frequency of cramps so that I can keep her weight up but then will we ever get her over-stretched bowel back in shape again going slower? Third xray last week looks much lighter but so far to go!
When she can eat, she makes good choices: whole grains veggies tofu. I have encouraged more olive/coconut oils for calories, even dark chocolate. It's the quantity that is falling short.
thanx in advanve for input!
