I know a 50+ male that had the same problems along with loose teeth. He simply went to the dentist and had a deep clean below the gum line that helped tremendously. My guess is that the bacteria made some good real estate right below the gum line, eventually causing the line to recede. After the deep cleaning, the gum line restored and teeth were not loose.
