Re: Mark 8:33, what about Matt 16:22
and Matt 16:16
Jesus had just asked his disciples what people were saying about him.
"But who do you say that I am?"
Matt 16:16
And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ,
the Son of the living God.
Matt 16:22
Then Peter took him and began to rebuke him saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
Christ had just confirmed himself as Son of God to his disciples. Peter could not believe that God would allow any
thing bad to happen to Him. Peter was operating from the perspective of Ego. Just as Satan, because of his beauty
let his pride override his service.
Basically I agree with what you say about pride.
I just don't believe we have to personify it into a being
called Satan.
