Re: Monsanto sues Oakhurst Dairy over advertising

Can't say that I agree w/ that last sentiment, Spud. Any entity w/ the ability to decide which corporations are too big and too powerful is scarier to me than the corporations themselves. It's never been easier to raise public awareness about something. Five minutes from now I could have “100ReasonsMonsantoSucks.com” up and running. So when you say "we need to put an end to this" it makes me wonder what form the "we" would take.

The percentage of corporations that are truly loathsome is very small, imo. Right now I'm typing on a Mac, made by Apple Corporation--should they be taken over? I buy a lot of stuff at Whole Foods, a corporation--should they be busted up? From this chair I can see an HP printer, a Panasonic pencil sharpener, a Swingline stapler, a Sony CD player, a Casio digital camera, a Westclox clock, a Pentel eraser, and a Sharpie marker. Can't say that I'd want away of these corporations to go away, and I could name 50 more. Most corporations employ scores of people and provide goods or services, which are two huge, positive things that outweigh whatever negatives there are... I've noticed quite a lot of people w/ a knee-jerk, anti-corporate mindset and very often they sound like people who just aren't thinking--not to accuse you, Spud.

Corporations spring up in the marketplace, and they can be taken down in the marketplace, unless of course they're propped up by government. And government is the scariest corporation of them all--no marketplace, no competition, just "my party's in power now" or "your party's in power now." Billions in taxpayer dollars hurled one way or the other, depending on which way the wind is blowing. So we pay $600 for a toilet seat, and your neighbor's m0r0n brother-in-law gets a no-show job for $100K a year. The government does the military well, and maybe NASA, everything else it tries it pretty much sucks at. The Post Office operates at a loss, same w/ Amtrak which they took over. The inefficiency, the bloatedness, the bureaucratization, the union rackets, the patronage, the hacks, the goons, the cronyism, the calcification. The scam artists they can't keep track of, including those w/ letterheads. The hamhandedness--TSA agents feeling the crotches of nuns and pulling down the pants of 4 year olds. Over here, Obamacare hasn't even gone into effect yet and there are already over 100 companies (many w/ union ties) that have been granted a "waiver." So much for "every person" having health coverage. Gee, I wonder if there'll be any lobbying, any deal-making, any backroom handshakes, any quid pro quo, any pay-to-play. I mean it's only the equivalent of 1/6 the US economy -- what could possibly go wrong??

Sorry to ramble on, I guess it's been on my mind.
