My focus is not on the mat as much as it is just going out and laying on the ground. But I see what your saying that you can't do that right now. From what I understand of the mat I just heard that some people feel worse after using it. Most reports I have read have been positive though.
I do agree that indoor air pollution can be part of the picture, but I really think it is more with sleeping on the ground. I took my children to the park a lot over the summer. I would spend time out in the air and it was nice. But none of the benefits compared to the time that I was actually sleeping outside on the ground. That was a huge difference for me.
As far as how the mats work, I think there is something that you can plug into your wall for one product and the other has a rod you stick in the ground. I also have heard of people getting instructions online about how to make their own.
