Re: Sorting Out Soy propaganda.

Great article Grassman.  A few things I would like to add.

First is they are claiming protease inhibitors are bad.  So why are they not bashing all other seeds or even green tomatoes that are also loaded with protease inhibitors?  And why are they failing to mention the benefits of protease inhibitors such as being strongly antiviral and therefore anti-cancer?

They are also ignoring a simple fact that the phytic acid in soy and other seeds are already bound to minerals picked up from the soil.  In order to take any minerals from the body the phytic acid must fist give up the minerals it is already bound to.  So phytic acid DOES NOT rob the body of minerals as they claim, it creates an exchange reaction giving up its minerals to bind to others.  Just like how hemogloblin must give up its carbon dioxide in order grab a hold of oxygen.  They also ignore the fact that phytic acid has a higher affinity for heavy metals and dangerous free iron  than it does beneficial minerals.

In addition phytic acid, also known as inositol hexaphosphate (IP6) is used in the treatment of cancer and other diseases.

The reason soy is so beneficial to bone strength is from the phytoestrogens in the soy, which again provide many benefits to the body.

And finally, they obviously do not understand what they are talking about as evidenced by their assertion  "Westerners have such high rates of osteoporosis because they have substituted soy oil for butter, and as a result no longer consume enough vitamin D for calcium absorption?"  The problem with this assertion is that osteoporosis IS NOT from a lack of calcium or other minerals.  That would be osteopenia.  Osteoporosis is a loss of the bone's collagen matrix, which has nothing to do with vitamin D levels.  The most common cause of osteoporosis is a lack of silica, followed by insufficient vitamin C levels.
