Re: From Farm to Fridge to Garbage Can - The Tremendous Amount of Food Waste

My pet hate is packaging, the amount of plastic that goes into packaging what is supposed to be fresh fruit and vege. Do you really need your tomatoes on a plastic tray, wrapped in plastic?

There is a lot happening in my country to try and get rid of unnecessary packaging, but as usual it doesn't go far enough.

I do think it comes down to us, as consumers, to really change the way we think about what we consume. I don't know of anyone that prefers pre-packaged, cold stored, irradiated produce, to fresh, organic, home or local grown produce.

It starts with the kids, it gives me a lot of joy when my Grandkids come over, and the first thing they do, is go into the garden, to see what there is to eat, or take home for their dinner. Its broad beans today :)
