It can always be argued that a little elemental iodine added to SSKI is a good thing. Especially for females. Males? Maybe not so much, IMO. You know how you feel on Lugol's. After some time on SSKI, you may crave elemental because "something's missing." Or maybe not. You'll figure it out.
Seems like if you had exactly 100 ml distilled water, and exactly 100 g potassium iodide, that solution would deliver 1 g KI per ml water. Easy to dose if you use a syringe -- say, 0.4 ml = 400 mg potassium iodide. (EDIT -- I should write this on a blackboard 100 times till I get it -- the goal is 100 ml SOLUTION, as Trapper says below, which will take more than 100 ml distilled water. Maybe when I finally make some I'll stop making this mistake!)
If you like the idea of the fully saturated solution, here's Trapper's recipe --
someone advised on this earlier and pointed out that its a SATURATED solution of KI. you can take distilled water and keep adding KI to it until it no longer dissolves. that will give you SSKI as well. start with the bottle only a quarter full so you can shake it and so you dont overflow it. there is more KI in SSKI than water! use brown glass to protect from UV light.
