It can always be argued that a little elemental iodine added to SSKI is a good thing. Especially for females. Males? Maybe not so much, IMO. You know how you feel on Lugol's. After some time on SSKI, you may crave elemental because "something's missing." Or maybe not. You'll figure it out.
Seems like if you had exactly 100 ml distilled water, and exactly 100 g potassium iodide, that solution would deliver 1 g KI per ml water. Easy to dose if you use a syringe -- say, 0.4 ml = 400 mg potassium iodide. (EDIT -- I should write this on a blackboard 100 times till I get it -- the goal is 100 ml SOLUTION, as Trapper says below, which will take more than 100 ml distilled water. Maybe when I finally make some I'll stop making this mistake!)
If you like the idea of the fully saturated solution, here's Trapper's recipe --

I'm very pleased to read your posts as I've been really unsure if the 10% Lugols Reagent grade I bought online is safe to ingest. I've been searching the internet, without any success,to find out what significance 0.00001% max of lead will have on my health when taken over a period of time.
Or does "0.00001% max" mean too little to worry about?
As a new user of Lugols (In just a few days I already notice I have more energy) I'd love to hear what others think about these specs, as it says on the label "For laboratory use only" but according to what I've read on here the specs appear to be as good as medical grade.
Lugols Iodine Reagent 10%
PB 0.00001% max
AS 0.00001% max
FE 0.0001% max
CL 0.0001% max
Thanks for all the Information.
