Re: Zinc, how to bind mercury and DMSA for copper toxicity

Hey man.

Thanks again for such a quick reply.

I am currently 127lbs...so I guess my ALA dosage would be approx 60mg. yMy DMSA dosage seems to be approx 190mg I am currently taking 250mg...is this too much then?

----I can't tell if your talking about total dosing for one day or each dose. Most people refer to their dosage as how much they take every 3-4 hours. I'd start at 12.5mg of each and your maximum dose should be around 62.5mg of each. Unless you know you tolerate more and feel good with it you could technically go up to 120mg. This is a bad idea though and I highly doubt you will tolerate such a dose. Slowly work up from 12.5. I am personally at 25mg and have done a few at 37.5 but experience much more side effects. Chelators increase excretion in approximately a square root proportion. This means 25mg is not two times as effective as 12.5mg. 50mg would be twice as effective at 12.5mg. Therefore you generally want to keep the doses low since it doesn't help that much more to increase the dose but it does carry a lot more side effects. Keep the DMSA dose around the same as the ALA dose. No need to take a bunch of DMSA generally an equal amount or 1/2 amount of DMSA to ALA is fine.

What are your thought on eating fish? I have defiantly consumed salmon, mackerel and, sardines, anchovies, crab and other shellfish in the past three months. Not all the time, I tried my best to keep it to twice a week no more but stopped eating fish around a month ago. And defiantly no tuna or fish on the upper end of the food chain (although i ate a lot of tuna sandwiches when I was younger)!

----Avoid large fish such as tuna, shark, swordfish, etc. Other fish are fine and can be consumed whenever you want. I'd probably limit it to 1-2x per week though. Just be sure to avoid the larger fish they tend to accumulate a lot of mercury.

is it possible to take Iodine on the off days? Or is it best left alone?

----Avoid the iodine, it isn't necessary.
