Re: can't breathe--pulmonologist says its asthma, I think otherwise.
thanks all for the advice, here's my update.
my breathing has gotten worse, the crushing/tightness feeling in my chest has increased about 100X. I feel like I'm walking around with my lungs emptied out and I have to fight to fill them, and once they are filled there's not much air in them. it feels like one cough will empty out my lungs whereas I used to be able to cough a whole bunch before feeling winded. I just don't understand it.
I went to the ER last weekend for a panic attack that was being fed by the difficulty breathing, and the ER doctor has now given me my third different diagnosis: this time my lungs sound perfectly normal, and there's "nothing wrong with me and it's all in my head."
if it's all in my head then why do my lungs make noises, and why do my lungs feel the way that they do, why does my rib cage physically hurt, and why do I wake up in the morning feeling like somebody spent the night beating my chest with bricks?
after that I waited in the ER for a little over 20 hours before a psych screener came to talk to me. after all the waiting she just referred me to two local psychologists, one who doesn't accept my insurance and another who I can't see for one year because of a conflict of interest (he did my evaluation for disability).
I don't know what to do. my lungs are so horrible now that no matter how much xanax I take in attempt to calm down, I'm still freaking out and it hurts me to breathe. I haven't left my house in a week now.
Have they done a chest x-ray? If so what were the results?
Have you tried the magnesium malate to dilate the bronchioles? Plain quercetin will also do this. Recommended dose on the quercetin is 500mg as needed.
The anxiety can be triggered off by a build up of lactate from a lack of oxygen. This is why the Xanax is not helping. Xanax works by affecting the GABA receptors in the brain, so in essence is acting like a neurotransmitter inhibitor. This is great for epinephrine induced anxiety, but not lactate induced anxiety, which is a more common cause. Nettle leaf is great for lactate induced anxiety, and also acts as a mild antihistamine.
