Re: chromium polynicotinate
Cholesterol may or may not be an indicator of heart disease. The top level experts disagree about this.
"Expert" is a title often given to people that really does not mean much of anything. I have seen so many AIDS "experts" for example on TV news programs calling AIDS a "disease". But AIDS is not a disease, it is a syndrome (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Syndromes are not diseases, they are a group of symptoms. So how can so many AIDS "experts" make such a simple mistake? And look at expert witnesses hired by attorneys for Court cases. These "experts" conflict with their evidence all the time.
James comes down on the side that cholesterol is NOT an indicator of heart disease but the evidence is mixed which is why research scientists disagee.....but the overwhelming majority are of the opinion that cholesterol is an indicator and cause of heart disease.(academics unconnected with business interests).I have no idea who is right. We may know in another ten years.
Yet low cholesterol is more of a risk factor for heart attacks and stroke than high cholesterol and about 50% of heart attacks occur with normal to low cholesterol levels. So how do these "experts" explain these facts?
And why do these same "experts" consider diabetes, smoking, high homocysteine levels and high blood pressure as major risk factors for heart disease? These conditions DO NOT raise cholesterol levels but they do all lead to arterial inflammation.
