My trick for growing really good crops of tomatoes, is to plant them on top of buried doggy doo.
I have 2 dogs, so plenty of this, I dig a hole and bury it everyday, and them plant tomatoes on top. The tomato plants love doggy doo as fertiliser because of the potassium and phosphorous content. This means lots of flowers, which means lots of tomatoes.
I use chicken poop too, but only stuff that has been composted for about 3-6 months, otherwise it will burn plants.
